People, Ourselves - A Fine Art Traditional Motif...

WINEFEST, MARYLAND, FINE ART ORIGINAL MARYLAND MULTIMEDIA ACRYLIC/OIL ART WORK ... A wine festival, Maryland, probably near Frederick / Hagerstown, in the 1990s.  At that time I lived in Frederick, an exciting town, lots of good friends.  Having been down in Florida the last 10-12 years, I still miss being up north. Auguste Renoir - Dance at Le Moulin de la Galette OURSELVES AND PEOPLE -  Starting with impressionism, artists became interested in real-life motifs, as contrasted with classical art of invented situations.  This has always interested me, although current "contemporary" art tends to ignore such motifs - I tend to think motifs such as shown here as treating "ourselves, and people".  Renoir was certainly one of the artists of the time whose focus strongly included such motifs.

I am a realist at heart, and enjoy interpreting realistic motifs in color and mood. My style is a mix of traditional methods applied in a casual-realist manner; usually a relatively thin underpainting, and using transparent glazes to enrich colors and shadows. Recently I have also been doing some new prints and paintings as mixed-media on paper and as direct original digital images. All images are copyright. I spent most of my adult life in the general area of Maryland / Virginia, and collected many painting opportunities.  Some of these I did then, some of them I am developing now, based on photos from "way back when"... The Maryland Farm - Spring is a current multimedia acrylic/oil, the other 2 are traditional oil on linen.

Autumn Forest, Patapsco Valley, Maryland ... a few miles south of Baltimore; … If I remember right, the stream and woods were in a park area along Rt 1, south of Baltimore, Potapsco Valley State Park. - oil on linen, 18.000 x 24.000 inches

Autumn fields in Southern Maryland ... south of  Lexington Park; an original oil on linen, 42.000 x 20.000 inches In the 1970's my parents lived in Southern Maryland, near St. Mary.  This was a farm on the way down, in the fall.  I always have liked Maryland autumn colors, soft and warm, not brittle and cold like more northern autumn colors...
