Sargent shows a woman posing in a black satin dress with jeweled straps, a dress that reveals and hides at the same time. The detail, right, shows her face, profile; one could see her in later life as "wicked witch of the north".

Fine Art Acrylic/Oil Sketch, "Brit"   (click title above to see the original)  I painted this picture in a loose "sketch" mode, "Brit" probably about 6 or 8 years ago, Spring Hill, Florida... The original painting is now for sale, $900.00 17 x 26 inches. I've always liked to paint portrait-style "people" and groups "ourselves", usually of people I know, and not by commission ... I like impressionist motifs, but prefer my own more modern painting style, often using thin paints to let the underlying light and colors shine through .
